NiteCore Extreme / Jet-II Military...higher quality?

I know there are obvious size differences, but these are the only two that interest me right now and they cost nearly the same. I have been racking my brain for 3 days over which one. Is there an obvious difference in quality between the two?

I handled the Extreme last week and really liked it except for the stiff twisting head. Only thing I don't like about the Military is the two modes and size. Seems like it would be easier to change brightness on the Extreme. I mostly just use low and medium so this is important to me. Would be nice to have double the runtime though too. Suggestions? Thanks.

The JET-III M changes mode with a slight twist of the head and is very smooth to turn. Fully tight is MAX. Just a slight twist of the head and switches to the user selectable secondary mode. Which could be any brightness, strobe or combination of the two.

The NEX vs IBS-equipped Jet battle has been ongoing for some time, they are very closely matched and which is "better" really only comes down to personal tastes.

The Jet III Military isn't entirely a fair comparison as it's not the same cell type, and is notably larger and more overbuilt than the NEX. If you're looking for build quality/resilience however, the Military is about as hard as it gets with stainless steel at both ends and a crystal sapphire lens, specifically built for tactical use.

If you're not liking the two mode limitation of size of the Military, keep in mind that all the other Jets have three modes and come in a range of sizes; The 1x123 Jet II IBS and Pro models (same cell type as the NEX) are virtually the same size as the NEX.

You might prefer the IBS interface if you're looking for ease of changing modes - while the NEX has a great interface for moving up and down a brightness ramp, the IBS system has "memories" like on a car radio for remembering specific places/outputs that you preselect. This way you can instantly switch between modes you've already set, no moving up and down the ramp every time you need to adjust output. Plus on the non-Military Jets, the mode switching is all done through soft-pressing the tailswitch, there is no head-turning; you can immediately blip through your modes one-handed.

After reading about the short runtime on low and the waterproof issues with the NEX, I decided I had to have the Jet-III M and ordered it this AM. It's only 1/2" longer and 1/2" larger dia. then the P3D.

After reading about ... the waterproof issues with the NEX

My updated opinion is the NEX has good waterproofing, just don't untwist the head too far when changing modes. See this post for more details.
