I had a thread over in the LED forums a few days ago when I picked up the 6PL. Great light, but I found myself wanting the 6P Defender body instead. Well I was at sporting goods store today to check out some lights and they had a 6PD on the rack. Checked it out and decided to pick it up. The strike bezel is a great addition to this light..really nice. The click tail switch is very nice addition too.

So, I worked out a deal with a co-worker who wanted the 6PL. Now I have the 6PD. I also bought the drop in P60L assembly and now I have both incan and LED options for the 6PD.

The madness never ends!!!!
Sweet!:D

Congratulations on your new Surefire 6PD!
Hope you enjoy it.

Congratulations on your new Surefire:thumbsup:. I bought a 6PD when they first came out and I really liked it alot. Tell us about p61L after you played with it a while. I hav'nt made up my mind about buying one yet, Maybe you can help convince me to get one.

Good choice, probably more stuff availible for the venerable 6P than about anything else. Or just stock is good too.

Nice... I don't think I could ever do without one Xenon light in my collection.

Somehow I missed your comment on the P61L... please feel free to post comments and impressions. I think you are the first CPFer to purchase one.

thanks

...so what do you think about the P61L?

Just edited my original post to reflect the correct LED assembly. I bought the the P60L, not the p61L, sorry.

Had the p60L in the 6PL and my overall impression was that it was bright with a very slight blue cast. Great indoors, decent outdoors.

Glad to hear you like it. If the tailcap starts having problems, don't panic. Three out of the four SureFire clickies I have were stiff at first, but I put some lube in them and they all started working fine.

I have the same setup. I bought a 6PD, then dropped in a P60L. I love it! Yes, it has a bluish tint, but oh well. I am definitely getting a P61L once they're out!:twothumbs When, oh when, oh when?!

Does the 6PD really come with a clicky? I was unaware of this.

To my surprise yes. (To my research no -- see SureFire 2007 catalogue.) I was even more surprised how well it works with the P60L. The LED module is exactly one, where you want a clicky. Can't say the same for my other 6P with the P61 -- no clicky needed for this high-performance light...

Great light. I bought the 6PL flashlight not that long ago. I added a SF strike bezel bought off a fellow member. I should be recieving a Bug out Gear Premium Plus drop in module today or tommorow. Can't wait.

The 6PD has always featured the Z59 click on/off tailcap. The 6PD pictured on P56 of the 2007 catalog also has the Z59.

I have a Z2 Combatlight with the Defender head and latest revision Z59 clicky and the lanyard attachment. It's got a nice unfrosted P61 and always fresh SF batteries for bumps in the night. So I guess basically I could call it a Z2D?

If I put an LED drop-in in it, I could call it a Z2DL.

I like that configuration and I'm amazed Surefire doesn't sell something like it. It sounds like the perfect fight-light for civilian self defense... easy to use with a pocket howitzer CCW, and a solid little kubotan or set of aluminum knuckles in its own right, depending on how you hold it.

Only thing I can think of is you'd want either the momentary or the shrouded clickie so you don't punch someone and turn your light off.

Yes, unfortunately SureFire does not sell the E2DL or 6P Defender head as individual items... So, I started with one SureFire ~4 yrs ago, and now I have seven with more to come... :scowl:

Please let us not forget, that SureFire only adds a variation of an exisiting model, when there was a large customer requesting this combination. So, maybe the Z2DL might be possible, if for example the FBI wants it...
