Night Watch, scary Russian video, also the follow up Day Watch.
Twelve Monkeys
District 9
A Clockwork Orange
Dog Soldiers
Avatar
Mars Attacks
Heavy Metal, great film based on graphic novels of the same name.
That lot should keep you looking behind the couch.

Starship Troopers
Dark Fury (from between the Riddick movies)

Farscape (Series + Movie)
Andromeda (Season 1-3)
Doctor Who (Season 5)
Battlestar Galactica
Halo 2 cutscenes
Babylon 5

Edit: series = 40-hour movie (as you're running out of films to watch)

The new Total Recall movie, After Earth, and the new Oblivion movie with Tom Cruise and in it, it features a Oveready Triple.

i prefer the older total recall movie.
i liked prometheus, as well as oblivion. moon was really good. pacific rim was a fun movie if you dont question it.
matrix is a great movie. the 2 that followed were not as good.
futurama is a fun series.
wall-e was really good, even if it is for a younger audience.
dark city, avatar, district 9, firefly/serenity, 5th element just to second those recommendations.

matrix is a great movie. the 2 that followed were not as good.

That's because the first one struck the balance between philosophy and action, the other two go much harder on both counts and are as a result somewhat bipolar. Gotta see 'em just for those action sequences though, I mean come on, Morpheus and a samurai sword versus a Cadillac Escalade..

Dark Star (1974). It's a low budget black comedy, not much action but worth watching (dunno if I'd go as far as buying a copy). It's a cult classic now ;)

One of those movies I saw once 25+ years ago and it stuck with me, as a rather entertaining different movie, while other big name movies have moved to the haze of lost memories.

Some others, not mainstream Hollywood big budget blockbuster type movies.

"Colosus : the Forbin Project" a computer takes over the world movie. The tech is rather low tech as far as the computer goes. Hollywood is planning a remake soon.

"Phase IV" is an ant take over the world movie. Kind of trippy and odd, Much like Darkstar. Most interesting part was the ants. They used a guy who did insect documentaries to film live action ants. In one scene an ant grabs some yellow poison and carries through the ant tunnels. He dies. Another ant come along picks it up, carries it and dies. Eventually the final ant gets it to the queen who starts producing eggs for yellow poison immune ants.

+1 on (in order of posting): Firefly, Moon, 2001, and Starship Troopers.

In a related note, ever browsed through the Netflix "Science Fiction" category?
There are large numbers of movies in there that are no way related to science fiction IMO ...

Another vote for Oblivion - best Sci-Fi I have seen this year. Also Gattaca is good (as wellk as being quite thought provoking).
also:
Minority Report
I-Robot is perfectly watchable
Starship Troopers

As for TV series, Firefly is excellent (as is the movie Serenity), also the reimagined Battlestar Galactica.

I think that Night Watch has also been mentioned - if you can get hold of the version with the 'integrated' subtitles (not sure how else to describe it really) it is just astounding.

Multipass! Lol. I was happy that was one of the first replies. Stuff I don't think anyone has mentioned yet.

Taken (TV Mini-series 2002)
Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)
