Was anyone here on CPF affected by the earthquake this morning in Utah? I'm about 12 miles from the epicenter but all good. The state wants us to shelter in place - like we weren't doing that already for COVID?
Brother works for Delta in SLC. His plane had just finished taxiing up to gate and door was opening when it hit. Said the plane rocked violently for quite some time. Pilot announced it was a "gust of wind". Probably to prevent panic and an uncontrolled mass exit from the plane. At home in Sandy, south of SLC no issues. Not even feeling aftershocks.
Good to hear he's OK. The airport is open again for cargo, should open later for commercial. The news outlets love a story, but the truth is nobody was hurt and the damage is, relatively, minor.
The biggest problem is many people were already on edge because of the virus; the quake just made it that much worse. Lots of bad advice, rumors and false news on social media. I'm hoping this doesn't make grocery hoarding worse.
