I'm so happy with the way this light came out I'm going to offer them for sale. The Prototype measured OVER 20,000 LUX!! It maxed my meter out! (LM631) I thought my meter was broken but it is working properly :)

Specifications

-O-Sink Style heatsink for great heatsinking
-Sub 1d length 6.5" overall length (option 2) Option 1 will be approx 1 inch shorter.
-3x 17670 powered 4800Mah *OR* 18650 powered 2200Mah.
-UCL UltraClear glass lens
-Seoul P4 emmitter with Glow Powder around pedastal
-Custom Tailswitch
-Flupic Powered with fully adjustable Low and High levels including Strobe and Beacon and Burst mode. Burst mode provides 1.2amps to the Seoul P4 Emitter.
-Custom FluPic Holder

Runtime
-Burst mode provides 1.2amps to the emitter so I would not recommend turning the light on in burst mode and leaving it unattended. Burst mode needs to be used with common sense. If the light starts to get hot then bump the output down a notch.

If high mode is set to say 750mah with style 1 your runtime would be approximately 2.5 hours. With style 2 your looking at 6+ hours. The runtime is based one what level *you* set the brighness levels as Low and High are fully user adjustable. Burst mode is the only mode that is not ajustable.

I'm going to offer this light in 2 base styles.

-Style 1 will powered via a single 18650 cell and will include a PVC sleeve to center the cell.

-Style 2 will be powered via 3x17670 cells and will include a premium FiveMega parallel battery holder. Also the light will be Tri-Bored.

Pricing

-Style 1 will be $175 Plus shipping

-Style 2 will be $225 Plus shipping ($35 holder cost plus Tri-Boring)

-Finned Head $20
-Fluted Head $30
-Grooved Body $15

Colors available will be Green, Silver, Red, and Blue. If you prefer Pewter, Black, or Copper add $10.

20,000 lux from a single LED?

Thats what I said :) then I measured my UWOK Aleph 3 and the meter said 8000+ Lux then put the Seoul back on and BAM it maxed out again. One thing to remember LUX is a measurement of beam intensity or throw. This light as seen in the beamshot also has a nice amount of flood. The light was only about a foot from the wall.

.... it used to be that 10,000 lux was the symbolic target to exceed for throw on an LED.....

You just doubled that.....

Re: Seoul P4 Custom MagLite

What are the settings on the beamshot aside from a foot from the wall (camera settings)?

:thanks:

I want 'em all! (I just can't afford everything, yet; just wait 'till I take over the world...)

'twill be interesting to compare your Mag P4 to Arc Mania's latest TM-II (also P4 LED,
although I believe he limited High to 950mA...)

LED's still can't (well, don't yet, anyways) compare to a good hotwire for wide-spectrum
color rendition (or, in the case of the Mag623 -- "Torch" -- sheer giggle power).

It is always a pleasure just to view the photos.

Re: Seoul P4 Custom MagLite

:thanks: for the settings. The reason I ask is simple, since there is no standardization on CPF in regards to what settings to use to take beamshots you have to assume that every one has different settings. This makes it VERY hard to compare one beamshot to the next even if both beamshots are of the same actual light. Settings such as distance to beam, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, etc all have a PROFOUND effect on determining what the final beamshot is going to look like. I know I'm probably not telling you something you don't already know, but thats why I asked.

Again :thanks: for taking the time to post the settings.

Mac, I want one but, need to know something about the finning before I decide my options. This is to be a gift. When you cut the grooves for the fins, is bare aluminum shown in the cut areas or, do you annodize into the grooves? :huh2:

That is SWEET but pretty far outside my budget!

I was talking to my Dad earlier about getting my SL3AALUX modded. I mentioned multi-level and he said "how much?"

I'm pretty sure he croak at $175 + shipping!

You sure do some pretty work!

BTW that was measured with the stock plastic lens :)

Does this flashlight have water resistance? Can I drop it in a puddle without any fear?
