Surefire A2 Aviator Lockout Question

Alright, so despite my use of the search function and browsing of Atomic_Chicken's wonderful A2 thread index I haven't been able to find anyone addressing the amount of thread that should be left when an A2 is locked off.

When I back my light one full rotation off of the index marks where the tail-cap only engages the LEDs the tailcap is less then a 1/2 from falling off. Early on in my ownership this resulted in a tailcap and batteries floating around in my pocket. My solution has been to only back the light off 1/3 of a turn from the point at which only the LEDs are engaged. This leaves about one full rotation to the point where the cap would fall off and I figure if it accidentally goes to a point where the LEDs can be momentarily turned on, who cares, as its highly unlikely it would be held on long enough in a pocket to deplete the batteries any appreciable amount. So with my lockout point I, of course, love my A2. I am wondering if mine has less "safety" turns post lockout then most.

I suppose this question may also be applicable to L1 and L4 owners as I believe both these lights use the same thread and tail cap configurations.

My apologies if the answer to this question already exists and I failed to find it.

Thanks in advance,

Robert

On my A2 it's about a 3/4 turn from falling off. I lube the threads with Nyogel which gets a bit sticky after time (so more initial force is needed to rotate the tailcap) and it's not very probable that the tailcap would unscrew itself in my rucksack.

I leave it on at least one full turn

when I "lock out" its usually just locking the xenon out. as I have left the LEDs on days at a time and on the ZTS batteries are all green for the first day or so. therefore I don't worry about it draining my A2

I love CPF. Thanks for the fast responses guys, basically, as I figured. I ordered a "candle stand" adapter from Oregonshooter that will further reduce the likelihood of accidental switch activation. Thanks again guys!

Yup, get the OS tailguard. I have one on my A2 and don't even bother locking out the tailcap.
