Found this light the other day and bought one:

Dot-it's with 5mm leds are meh. This one, however, is pretty cool. The beam is using an optic with diffuser. Even with that, I think the beam should be wider than it is. The motion sensor works fine, with sensitivity only within a few inches to prevent accidental turning on. Tint is toward neutral on mine.

On 3 nimh AA cells, it pulled 240ma on high, and 50ma on low. It also auto shuts off in an hour and has a magnet and adhesive choice for mounting. Mine is simply on my nightstand as a before sleep light right now.

I stopped looking in my supermarket long ago for any worthwhile lights, but that is where I found this, of all places. Go figure.

cool! I think this has all kinds of uses....and with a GD and not a 5mm led...nice. Thanks for posting this!

I use these to light up caves for photography. I place them strategically around the scene for long exposure shots. This shot was lit with 5 of these plus our headlamps

Those are cool I want a few what retail stores carry them?
They had them in 3-packs at Sam's club for the longest time. Of course no one bought them, to cool for noobs, then they disappeared. I was hoping they'd mark 'em down and I'd buy a bunch up for friends, family, and, ahem, myself. Maybe they'll be back.
They worked pretty good in the store.

an hour is too long, would be better if it shut off after 10 minutes,

imo.
