this may be a stupid question but I am new to LED Lights. I have seen adds for TerraLUX TLE-5EX MiniStar2 EXTREME with SSC P4 LED and others that just say TerraLUX TLE-5EX MiniStar2 EXTREME. Is this one and the same module?

Hard to say. Someone just posted something about a NEW one the other day in the Dealers Corner, but it wasn't very clear what was "new and improved". Extreme is kind of a poor description if you ask me.

Alright, what do you want to know exactly. Looking to buy one or no?

Yes, I believe these are the same module. I think the "EX" in "TLE-5EX" stands for EXtreme, so saying "TLE-5EX Extreme" is just redundant.

I bought my TLE-5EX from batteryjunction. On the site it said SSC, but strangely, the package itself does not mention Seoul at all. It is brighter and a better tint (more bleached looking instead of reddish) than the standard TLE-5.

By the way, I also think the Terralux clickie tail cap is a great deal :twothumbs. Much better than that POS nite-ize tail cap.

Thanks, That's what I thought as well, just wasn't absolutely sure. I have one in 2AA mini and works well more like 60 lumens not 100 on primaries though. But a great "the lights went out get theflashlight from the kitchen drawer" light.

copperfox is correct..they're one in the same.

The EX is best for lights with voltages of 6.0 and up. The EXB (boosted) is only for lights with voltages of 3.0 - 4.5.

I have 4 of them and they've all been perfect with no problems whatsoever. All were purchased at Battery Junction.

+1 on the Terralux TCS-1 tailcap clicky.

And I'm another happy TLE-5EX customer. I had several of the older Terrlux TLE-5 Luxeon I MiniMag drop-ins, and the TLE-5EX SSC P4 just simply rocks, in comparison

Oh, olrac I agree with you that the output of the 5EX isn't close to the 100 advertised lumens. I did put a UCL lens on one light, and that brightened it up a bit.

Can you tell me where to get the UCL lens?
