The Malkoff Front Porch

I think another thing that stops me from having a light that runs on primary cells only is that I'm looking for a Malkoff version of the Streamlight Protac 1L-1AA. That light can run officially 1xCR123 and 1xAA, and unoficially 1xAAA. Malkoff doesn't have any MDC body that can achieve that, right?

Nope

As much as I love Gene's products, if there's already a light out there that does what you want (from a different company) just stick to that one. SL Protac 1L-1AA is a personal favorite of mine.

I've read the patents on that light. Don't hold your breath.

I run LFP123s in mine, for the higher output + rechargeability.

Don't forget Eneloop AAs, for yet another secondary cell (rechargeable) option.

Even if you found a light that does all that without patent infringement, it likely wouldn't come with a Borofloat lens, Ten-Tap UI options, and an honest FL1 2-meter impact rating - regardless of who makes it.

If you want all of that, I only know one light that offers it all, from any manufacturer; not Malkoff, or anyone else.

If it's not expensive enough for you, buy 2 or 3;-)

I have a 'basic' question, if I may... I know very little about these matters, but I know who to ask, and that counts;-)

I'm easily lost in the multi-vendor alphabet soup, but is it in fact true that the only practical way to operate Malkoff M61 modules (SHO, N, etc.) [without modification / machining] in an Elzetta Bravo body / tube is / was by using a now-defunct (discontinued) bit of hardware referred to as a "ZFL head"? If so, I guess that's bad news for me, as I gather those don't exactly grow on trees anymore. You can break it to me straight though, as I don't usually shoot messengers;-)

Thanx for any enlightenment / info you might be able to provide!

No any m61 or m31 except for the throw or hot versions can be run In just about any p Series host. Like a 6p or 9p or an older elzetta or lumens host.

The Elzetta bodies can house Malkoff drop ins (some drop ins like M91T won't fit). The problem is the head needs to be the old/discontinued ZFL head. The current AVS and HC heads have the driver and LED built into the bezel.

I might have a ZFL for sale…

ya they won't fit the Throw or hot.

Just for clarification / simplification, I mentioned the M61 SHO and N modules because those are the 2 specific models I currently have and am seeking an Elzetta Bravo home for. For those 2 specifically, it sounds like the answer is 'yes', but only with the aforementioned ZFL head, assuming I find one some day. Correct?
