Hi everyone,

I have a very basic question for all of you: Does the SF 6P LED turn constant-on the same way as the SF L4?

The reason I ask is because on the SF website, it says the L4 turns momentarily on with a slight press, and then constant on with a full press down. (I currently own an L4 so I know what SF means by this).

The specs for the 6P, however, say you need to twist for a constant on.

I've been thinking of picking up a 6P with Malkoff M60 drop-in, but it's important that the flashlight turn constant-on one handed, with the push of the button, just like the L4.

Any clarification would be great! Thanks!

The difference you're describing is between the Surefire clicky switch and the twist on/off switch. The 6P as stock comes with the twist on/off, but you can add the clicky version. The stock tailcap is called the Z41 and the new one you would want is the Z59.

You can see pics of both in this thread.

There is another way to go though. The 6P LED comes with the Z41, twist on/off, but the 6P LED DEFENDER includes the clickie Z59. $23 more for the defender version, but that includes the Z59 which retails around $40.

You could just buy a stock incan 6P, then buy a Z59, but that would cost $100 or more anyway, so I'd suggest you buy the LED defender with Z59 included, add the Malkoff, then sell the Surefire LED (P60L) on the marketPlace.

Many thanks for the clarification and advice. Sounds like a good idea! I'm a little hesitant to buy the Defender model, however, because I'm thinking it may snag the clothing when worn under the shirt.

Any thoughts?

Thanks again!

As an aside, happen to know a fair asking price for the P60L and for a SF L4?

The teeth on the Defender model are certainly an issue.
Useful if that's what you need, but you're right, your pockets won't thank you for it.

Buying the Defender model then selling both the LED and the head, to swap for a Malkoff and a regular head, just so you can get the Z59 clicky included, is getting overly complicated. If you can accept the Defender head, then stick with plan A, buy Defender, with Z59 clickie included, sell LED, buy Malkoff.

If you would rather go straight for a regular head, no sharp teeth, then buy a stock incan 6P, separate Z59, and the Malkoff.
You then have nothing to sell which makes things easier, unless of course you really don't want the Z41 twisty at all, in which case you can get $20 for it on the Marketplace, no problem. Hey, I'll offer you $20 shipped for it right now :)

If you do end up with a Surefire P60L for sale, they did previously go for around $30, but there are so many other options now at that price, that you're unlikely to get more than $25 for it on the MarketPlace. As for the L4, it will depend on condition, but Surefires hold their value well, so if it is in reasonably good condition you can get back a fair chunk of the money you spent on it.
