Does anyone know if RCR's can work with the Vital Gear FB1's?

When I use an RCR in it, nothing happens. I use a 123 and it's fine. I use the same head and on a SF E1E body and it lights up fine. I'm using of one of Steve's drop ins, however the drop in has an input voltage of 2.8-6V.

Am I missing something?

I have two FB1s, purchased separately, that I use with VME heads & Malkoff dropins - both work fine with the RCRs I've used. I've also tried them with E to C adapters & Z44 heads - works fine too.

There's nothing about the body that would be sensitive to the voltage difference between RCRs & primaries, so it's most likely a question of dimensions. With the VME head, I find one should tighten the body to the head, then close up the head, not the other way around. There aren't a lot of threads in the E series body/head interface, so it's possible that the FB1 won't work with a specific head.

Questions:

  • What head are you using?
  • What brand of RCR are you using?
  • How do the RCR's dimensions compare to a primary cell?

- Syncytial.

+ have you checked the battery in another light? or another rcr?
(you probably have)

Yes I have used the RCR in other lights and it works, voltmeter says 4.15V.

I'm using a the E1E head with Steve Ku's drop in.

I'm using AW's RCR123, and it seems about half a mm longer than the primary.
