Im wanting some owners input and beam shots on the AE 25W. Im considering getting one as my first HID but would like to be more informed. Also how good of a thrower is this light? Also are the 35W non branded lights much more powerful? Or are they overrated like cheaper lights?

Thanks

There's at least one for sale in the marketplace right now. Maybe email the seller for opinions. I have the Xenide 20W but not sure how much brighter the 25W is.

That's actually the AE24W and the Xenide25 throws a bit better. I think it would make a great first light.

Yes the 35W lights are brighter, 2800 lumens compared to 1500 lumens. These are probably fairly realistic output figures. The "Tactical HID" only comes with a textured reflector whereas the Xenide comes with a smooth reflector and diffuser option. Due to the "Tactical's" textured reflector it's unlikely that it would out throw the Xenide but I don't have a "Tactical 35W HID" to do a comparison. The nice thing about the Xenide is the run-time which surpasses that of nearly every other factory HID.

I suppose it all depends on what you'll be using the light for but even the Xenide is nearly too bright to walk down the street with. Last time I walked with mine cars would slow down to stare and neigbors popped their heads up over their backyard walls. One guy told be he thought I was the police or something. I said "nope, they don't typically use lights this bright"....:p

LOL thats funny when I had my 5761 mag I would walk with it all the time.Thats a pretty bright Incan. I like the holy crap factor. You have any tight focused beam shots?

Not much , but this is the 25w vs. a 140 lumen Terralux 3D Mag drop-in during the day.

Ah, ya got me. It would be interesting to see a beamshot side-by-side then..

There's no way you can go walking with a 35 watt HID, it's pretty much useless in any urban/suburban setting; the hotspot travels over half a mile, and the spill is literally 140 degrees or so, enough that you'd have people coming out of their houses wondering why their windows are lighting up..

The other night I was out in my back yard "testing out" my stanley HID. There is a few hundred feet of forest behind me, and houses on the other side. There is also a house that is about 100 feet away from mine to the side of the forest. The next day they called and wondered if I had lost something (I don't know how I would loose something out in the middle of the woods, in the middle of the night, from right outside my door...), or if there was "a big scary animal out in the woods." I have shined my other LED lights out in these woods, and they apparently didn't notice. The 35 watt proved to be slightly brighter than those LEDs.
