This is fast for me. I used to have all of 20 kilobits download speed via a vintage dialup modem. The fone line wouldn`t support a 56K one for long without constantly dropping the line. I put up with it for about 2 years before upgrading!

That's a "1MB cable line" via a G band wireless.
We are over-subscribed in this area and the service provider will take many months to restore acceptable connection...

Here's mine

I'm looking to get a T1, so the upload will match the download.

DLG, I was thinking about going Comcast. What's your upload speed?

get a oc45 line i think that is what it is called

[/ QUOTE ]

OC-3 = 155mbits

OC-12 = 622mbits (4 OC-3s)

OC-48 = 2.5 Gb (4 OC-12s)

I'm thinking you might have a DS-3 (45mb), which is a fraction of an OC-3. Whatever ya got, it's fast! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

"A CMTS will enable as many as 1,000 users to connect to the Internet through a single 6-MHz channel. Since a single channel is capable of 30 to 40 megabits per second (Mbps) of total throughput..." - quoted source
Since most cablemodems are connected to the computer through a 10Mbps network card, 8 Mbps from cable is achievable.

I'm subscribed to DSL with a 1.5 Mbps download, 640kbps upload (in theory). Realistically I can get 1.2 Mbps down, 500 kbps up, give or take a few.
