I am using the D2DIM that I recently tested here for this new project.

Mix in the following ingredients:
1) M*g 1C with a MOP aluminum reflector

2) UX1L LED:

3) D2DIM:

4) C size heatsink:

add some wires, thermal paste, and a few other ingredients:

and you get this (in the middle):

Here are the beamshots. VB-16 with "T" bin and IMS27mm, then the "new" toy with the UX1L, and finally the SF M6 with "W" LED Module at 750mA (same manual exposure for all shots):

EDIT: Some outdoor beamshots (F5.6, 8 sec exposure), same order as above (VB-16, UX1L, Turbo LED):

With a charged 18650 cell, I get 985mA on the highest setting - perfect!

Nice mod Will! Now you should add some glow stuff around the emitter to make it even more appealing. ;) ... ....

Nice Job Will.....I see you lathe threading skills are improving :) Like Freddy said finish it off with some Glow Powder and clear epoxy.

Nice indeed! How are you dealing with the O-Sinks not being cut for the round slugs? The last couple I did I dremeled them to make the groove round to accomodate the round slug.

I added some outdoor beamshots. The UX1L is very nice and bright!

Thanks Freddy and Mac
No lathe work here. Just lots of bench time ;)

MM: The o-sink worked fine since this was still the old slug type :D

Will, that's great - what a cool little flashlight!

I've got a 2C Mag and some U-bins here....now if only I had your machining skills. <sigh>

Nice mod!

Nice job. Compact and bright!
This is now my most usable and exciting LED light that I own. The user interface that George is using in these D2DIM's is trully awesome, and when combined with the bright "U" bins from PhotonFanatic and a great reflector, you get a light weight, long running (these 18650 cells are awesome!), "fairly" small package that is hard to beat for the money ;)

No lathe? how did you re-thread the cut-down body?
This was a 1C that I have with me for 4-6 months now waiting for the "right" project - that is why there was no lathe work on this one ;)

However, thanks to Gadget_Lover and Mac I am learning to do my own threading in my lathe, so I will be in fact making these on my own in the next couple of weeks. I am now testing all of my LED's prior to putting them in projects, so I "might" even consider making a small run of these if there is enough interest given that I would only use LED's that tested well, although given the premium components used, these are not exactly cheap to build ;)

D2DIM, is that the unregulated PWM module like what is found in the LionHeart and LionCub?

The output follows the battery voltage, right?

Kinda like this, but a tad flatter due to your 18650 cell:

Yes, that's the one. A very nice match to the 18650 cell and to the "L" voltage U bin 3W LED. Since I am not running the light on max all of the time, the dimming will be even more gradual ;)

Holy cow! I gotta get into this modding stuff more seriously. The only mod I've done is the ol' 2Dmag--->3x123/5D bulb thing. That throw is SICK!

The trow was even higher with the stock plastic reflector!

I wanted more sidebeam so I used the MOP Aluminum reflector instead ;)
