Hi,

I used to have this very old scanner that is able to scan and analyse a document converting all the scanned words into Microsoft Word format. Kind of like scan to Microsoft Word and you can edit or retype some words in it.(Don't get confused with scanning it as a picture.)

Does anyone know of any such programs?

Thanks,
Atom

The software you are looking for is called OCR (Optical Character Recognition).

Unfotunately, as Ledacholic noted, the technology is far from perfect. For plain text you should be OK but there are problems with mis-recognition of characters, font recognition, and formatting.

Still, it can save you typing if it works.

If you don't now have a scanner pay attention to the software bundled with a new one. My Dell all-in-one came bundled with Abby and it's been quite good.
