can you be more specific why mp3 is stink for you?

I have been using mp3 all this time because it is the most popular and supported format. I encoded my mp3 from my CDs using lame encoder with the "--preset standard" switch and I cant tell the different from the original wav file.

How do you encode your mp3?

I've been using MA for a couple of years. It's excellent, but the files aren't anywhere near as small as with mp3. It's best if you use it with high quality equipment, where you can easily tell the difference.

o i encode most my mp3s at like 256 or 320 sometimes vbr but ma man was so awesume i may try ogg next

Well, I haven't had any trouble with my MP3's either, and I'm using LAME with "--alt-preset standard" too. I guess my ears aren't that good. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

But you gotta love Monkey's audio. Its called Monkey's audio, the file extension is .APE and they got that cute monkey on their website. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
