Alright...

I was recently given a Nite Tracker S/R LSI 500,000cp spotlight and was asked if I could make it better. The lights are used on the manufacturing floor of a large paper mill and have prooved to be unreliable. My goal is to brighten this light up and still have about 4 hours of runtime. My budget is no more then $100.

Inside I found two sealed lead-acid batteries, wired in parallel. They are 6 volts and 5 amp-hours capacity each. The bulb is a typical bi-pin configuration and is labeled as 20 watts. Almost everything is made out of plastic...

I would like to get away with just a bulb replacement but I am not sure what to do. Any suggestions??

What's the spacing on the lamp pins? A Welch-Allyn 1111 would probably be a nice (and inexpensive) upgrade and drop right in. But, the lamp's rated life is only 100 hours.

The 1111 is also 20 watts, like the stock lamp, but rated at 465 lumens. That's quite efficient for an incan, and probably miles ahead of whatever lamp is in the light originally.

How about replacing the Nite Trackers with three Thor Cyclopses? $30 apiece at Costco!
