This review is for the Slim Jr, by Sunlite. I purchased 2 of these as gift's for Mothers day coming up. The price is a very reasonable $28.00. :paypal:

The light itself is very nice to hold and grip....being that it is so small.

The specifications are as follows:

Overview

  • Basic Slim Jr. LED Flashlight also includes 3 AAAA batteries.
  • Comfortably fit in your shirt pocket.
  • The Slim Jr. Penlight efficiently drains heat from the LED chip, and efficiently conduct heat to the flashlight body.
Features

  • Copper substrate to quickly drain the generated heat to the flashlight housing. The thermal conductivity of our LED is around 1'C/W, 8 times higher than Cree Q5 LED
  • Copper reflector, also helps to drain heat away from the LED.
  • Recessed glass lens to prevent scratch and yellowing.
  • Push button on-off switch with momentary and constant illumination features.
  • Anodized aluminum alloy housing, also functions as heat sink.
Specifications
Brightness: 30 lumens
Size: 5.6 in. X 0.39 in.
Weight: 1.2 o.z. (with batteries)
Power source: 3 AAAA batteries
Run time: 6 hours
Housing Color: black, blue, red, pink, gold, silver, hot pink(in 'gift' section)

The model that I have has a different color. I believe they designed this one specifically for Mothers Day, as on the opposite side it has the words: "Property of Mom" etched.

It comes in a nice plastic case, which is very presentable as a gift for your beloved. The two I bought are for my wife and my mom.

The head is so tiny, I don't think I was able to get a shot of the LED emitter. Here is what I could get:

As you can see, it has a pretty decent little hotspot. I give kudos to Sunlite for packing the emitter and reflector in such a small package!!

One final picture for size comparison in the hand:

My overall thoughts are:

Pro's:
I'm impressed by the brightness of the 30 lumens in the hotspot it creates. It makes the light even more useful in that you can see things a little farther away. The color is nice and the overall construction of such a small penlight is very impressive. Pocket clip is stylish and does not snag on clothing. It is firm as well. Uses a forward clicky! The 3 AAAA batteries are included...nice touch.

Con's:
Will not tailstand...although that is not a huge complaint for this tiny light. The tint of the light is cool.....exactly like my 100 lumen Slim. I am beginning to desire warmer tints due to the constant use of my 8w and 16w. Upon my request...they will be creating warmer tints and they should be available in 1-2 weeks. So to add to the 'Pro's' above, they listen to their customers requests.

Please hit me up with any other requests....thanks for viewing! In the meantime, I will see if they can get a runtime chart for it.

Nice close-up shot HKJ! Someday, you'll have to tell me how you get that focus so close. :twothumbs

Thanks for the nice review and pics, Ryan. Looks like a good little light. Yet another to think about. It never ends.

Geoff

Thanks for the review Ryan,

Also with these you can get a flexi tube either 12" or 4" ideal if you need to light up hard to reach places.

I already have the 100 lumen slim head and I have a 2xAAA tube en route please note this is a non standard tube :sssh::naughty:

I think also I may get another slim head later with the warmer tint :twothumbs

The slim 2 AAA penlight,

In keeping with the theme"penlight" here,I got this today :D a slim 2.Holds two AAA's it's 4.5" long and weighs 34 grammes with batteries fits very nice in a shirt pocket.:) it's given me 3 hours so far of useful light and is still going as I post this,I'll edit when it gives up.

You can get the 3xAAA version that has much greater run time however I like this smaller housing :D

I found another use for it also,

from this!

to this very useful for indoor work tasks when you need light and both hands, yes you could just stick the slim 2 in your mouth but! :green::sick: I don't recommend this practice.:shakehead

And a comparison for size(note the 3xAAA has no led head attached)

Very Nice Titan!!

I guess you have the prototype eh? They call it the Slim 2. I will be getting one of these once they release it....mark my word.

Nice pictures!! Keep em coming if you have more... How about 1 or 2 of it in your hand for size comparison.

This has got to be one of the coolest penlights out there! We need to get a Streamlight Stylus Pro for comparison...

Ryan I will get more pics up soon if I can stop my nose running and my bones aching I'm house bound with flu at the moment,so I'm not running full steam  BTW 7+ hours of very usable light yes! the output decreases as time goes on but! it's gradual ,still has more left in the tank I'll report when it gives up completely :D

Link to slim 2 please  or hasn't it been released?
Hi blueboom I'm waiting for a reply on when and if they will be available.

:thinking:How'd you get it anyways?

EDIT: flu or swine flu or maybe bird flu!!!!!

I was talking about how you got the flashlight not the flu

So how long do you think these slim lights will last with have no current regulating do-dad (aka driver).

Sunlite has their own Integrating Sphere....and they've been giving us lumen/runtime charts. We'll have to wait and see what they give us for these. On their website they have max runtimes posed in terms of hours.

Two more pictures for size comparison :twothumbs

excuse the nosey pig in the picture,he likes to be apart of it sometimes .

005-14.jpg

and one I think maybe of a little more help :D

I have had a reply back from sunlite:The slim 2 will be on line for sale soon

I will also add in tests the slim 2 will give over 18 hours of usable light great for emergencies IMHO, AFWIW the stylus pro in comparison dies after only 7.5 hours.
