Is it just me, or does the Surefire Backup have really good color rendition to be an LED? I have many other LEDs, (U2, propoly lux, P60L, E1L, a fenix or two, etc, etc). But to me the Backup has a much better tint to it than any other LED I have used. What emitter is used in these?

Honestly, I think it does about as well as the regulated incan in an A2.

I thought it was just me, as I just received my SF E1B, and I agree it has the best color of all my led's. Including several Fenix, Novatac 120P's, Nitecore D10 and others.

What color tint do you guys have? Mine is cool white/bluish purple.

LED tint is not a characteristic of any particular model of flashlight, unless it uses handpicked bins.

I thought that, generally, certain LEDs are better known for a certain tint, and then within that certain type of emitter there were variations of that tint. In other words "XXX emitter" would generally be more blueish, but some would be more blue than others. Is this not correct?

Mine is also screaming white. If I were to say it had any tint it would be a green hue. Much less blue or purple than most other LEDs I have used. It makes my P60L look almost comical.

A greenish LED seems to help with the color rendering. It might mean more yellow is being emitted, since a white LED is blue LED + yellow phospor, more yellow might mean greener light.

Bright white in my E1B here as well, probably leaning more towards the blue side. My KX1 on my E1L has a more green/yellow tint which I am really liking outdoors.
