He's back!

As a huge Schumacher fan, having watched and rooted for him his entire career, I'm very excited about the idea of him stepping in at 40 years old to drive the Ferrari for the badly injured Felipe Massa.

Obviously Massa's injury places a damper on Michael's return but I'm glad that it's Michael and not an obscure Ferrari test driver. While I don't expect much from the Ferrari this year, it will be nice to see him once again in the car. I wouldn't discount the idea of a possible win in one of the seven remaining races, since he brings so much enthusiasm into the garage. He has a way of firing up the team that very few drivers in F1 history have shared.

The next race is this coming weekend Aug 21-23 at Valencia. It should be an even playing field since the track is newly added to the race calender for 2009. None of the drivers have raced F1 cars there before.

I see your point but Ferrari tests up an coming drivers all the time. I think if they would have had someone suitable in mind they'd have put them in the seat. Having Schumi in there is just the moral boost the team needs right now and brings a lot of good publicity to the team, which has been lacking this season.

I'd rather see the obscure test driver. We all know Schumi can drive, so I'd prefer to see some fresh blood step to the plate. It could have been the big break for a talented young driver...
+1.

Also, all of the press, TV analysts on both sides of the pond, etc are going to have a Schumi love-in.

Godzilla could show up at Valencia, but if he's not near Schumi, we'll never know....

Pity to say he has just announced that he won't be returning because of the injuries he received in an earlier motorcycle accident. Would have been great to see him drive in F1 again.
