With this reflector I would say it more of a floody beam with decent throw.

Very nice, exactly what I've been looking for for my MagLite :D

As I'm living in Europe ... what would be your estimation for additional shipping?

What happened to the SST-50?

I thought you were going to build a drop along the lines of a Malkoff type that goes in the maglite tube so that we could source our of reflector setup (I was looking forward to using this with an FM deep reflector with 16mm opening).

I was going for a 100% drop in........as in no tools needed.....no need for a special reflector or to modify the existing reflector.

The SST-50 LED's are to expensive at more than double the cost of the MC-E and there is no readily available reflectors for the SST suitable for this application.

Damn, that is one good looking heatshink!
You had me snagged with the possibility of the SST-50.
But, I am not interested with the Cree-MCE LED.
Good luck with your project.

Both the MC-E and SST-50 have approximately the same output at 2.8 amps. The benifit of the SST-50 is that it can focus better with a small reflector, so in a design like this drop-in there is no benifit to have the SST-50.

There is very little real world difference between the MC-E and the SST-50. This will rock with the MC-E. I am in for one but wont be able to buy it for awhile. Hopefully you have some when I have some money. Excellent work.

Looks interesting, but I would have been more interested in an sst-90, even with the added cost. Direct driven with levels if it were possible. Beautiful product nonetheless.

This rocks. I am definitely interested. What is the lumen output estimate?

It looks nice, but I'm going to have to back out. I have enough MC-E lights.

Best of luck.
