Re: EDIT: **OFFICIAL** Ra Clicky Owners Settings Thread. Post yours here!

Thanks for the link, Hooplehead. I thought I had seen a similar thread before, but wasn't certain. I'm merging the two.

In addition to being a fine mod and merging the threads, why don't you post your settings on your Clicky that WE KNOW you have... ;) :grin2:

Mine is a 120 lumen high CRI warm white clicky.

High [press-hold]: 120 lm
Primary [double-click]: 30 lm
Secondary [double-click]: 5.3 lm
Low [triple-click]: .23 lm

Everything in the options menu is disabled except customization.

The secondary setting (around 5 lumens) is what gets used most often. I rarely use the brightest level. Sometimes, if I'm reading or my eyes are dark adapted, I'll set the low to the dimmest level.

I have my 170 set this way:

Force Setting: Disabled
Button Lock: Disabled
Automatic Turn Off: Enabled
Locator Flash: Disabled
Momentary: Disabled
Customization: Disabled

High [press-hold]: 170 Strobe
Primary [double-click]: 170 Lumens
Secondary [double-click]:30 Lumens
Low [triple-click]: .08 Lumens

I keep it on the low setting to start; click twice to 170; twice again to 30(I might have them listed wrong, I forget what was what).

My Twisty 85tr is stock.

thought I would resurrect this one.

I set my 170t to...

Force Setting: Disabled
Button Lock: Disabled
Automatic Turn Off: Disabled
Locator Flash: Disabled
Momentary: enabled
Customization: enabled

High [press-hold]: 170
Primary [double-click]: 42 Lumens
Secondary [double-click]:7.5 Lumens
Low [triple-click]: .03 Lumens

I did not realize that a double click momentary from OFF would get you to preset A, simple way to have you primary set low and still access burst from off.

My EDC-120-E

Force Setting: Enabled - Set to Preset Level D (three clicks)
Button Lock: Disabled
Automatic Turn Off: Disabled
Locator Flash: Disabled
Momentary: Disabled
Customization: Disabled

Click on > Forced setting - "D" - Level 1 (0.07 lumen)
Double click from on > "B" - Level 16 (15 lumen)
Double click 2nd time > "C" - Level 19 (42 lumen)
Triple click (forced setting) - Level 1 (0.07 lumen)
Click / PHR - "A" - Level "A" - Level 22 (120/85 lumen)

I like the forced setting on low when I turn on the flashlight. I use the low alot, and I can get a full flash from off with the Click/PHR from off. With the forced low from off using the "D" preset; this allows me toggle between the most common uses of brightness in "B" & "C".

I learned you cannot use Forced Option 1 at one preset, and Momentary Option 5 at a differnet preset (I wanted "A" as momentary). It just won't work, but thats' OK. This is still a fantastic flashlight!

Don't own an RA Clicky but have a Novatac EDC 85T I cracked so I keep mine:

Primary (level 1 0.08 lumens)
Secondary (level 4 .23 lumens)
3 clicks (level 7 .66 lumens)
click hold (level 11 2.7 lumens)

I might lower max to 1.9 lumens as 2.7 is pretty bright. Heck I never need to get out of the first 10 levels. I plan to keep it that way.

Click on: 18 lm
Dbl click: .14 lm
Triple click: 50 lm
Click-hold: 140 lm

Everything else disabled.

The initial 18 lm setting when I click on honestly takes care of the vast majority of my usages, and while it's bright enough to be useful it also is low enough to get a lot of life from a battery. The .14 lm is a double click away for all my covert operations. I just moved that up from my previous .07 lm setting as I needed a tiny bit more light. The 50 lm mode takes care of basically anything else I can't do with 18 lm. I like to keep max 140 lm in there too though for times when I'm in the yard with the dog or something and maybe didn't grab a bigger light but need all the lumens to see further out.

This a clicky 140 wide btw.

Just got mine today. While I was waiting for it, I decided on the following setup. It's been a slow day at work so I've already got it customized. We'll see how it holds up in real life usage...

  • Primary Setting [click]: 35 lm (Level 19)
  • Secondary Setting [double-click]: 8.8 lm (Level 15)
  • Low Setting [triple-click]: 0.14 lm (Level 3, lowest)
  • High [press-hold]: 141 lm (Level 23, highest)
  • Turn On Preset: Enabled
  • Button Lock: Disabled
  • Automatic Turn Off: Disabled
  • Locator Flash: Disabled
  • Momentary: Disabled
  • Customization: Enabled

I absolutely love the programmability of my light. It can't be beat!

The one thing I wanted to keep similar to my old HDS EDC B42XR, was the visually even spacing of outputs. I really liked that alot, and it makes sense, from my perspective. So I have the burst mode, then ~1/4th it's brightness, then ~1/4th the that output.

I also have a Clicky 100 high CRI, flush switch, smooth stainless steel bezel.

I liked the levels that were preset but rearranged them a little for my use. I like it to come on at the lowest level since I don't use this light in a tactical manner so it is preferable to be lower initially than too bright. I use the low level to check on the kids at night or other similar tasks. I put the medium high level on the triple click setting since I don't use that very often.

Primary Setting [click]: 0.28 lm (Level 5)
Secondary Setting [double-click]: 13 lm (Level 16)
Tertiary Setting [triple-click]: 35 lm (Level 19)
Quartern Setting [press-hold]: 100 lm (Level 22, highest)
Force Setting: Enabled (I think - it always starts at low)
Button Lock: Disabled
Automatic Turn Off: Enabled
Locator Flash: Enabled
Momentary: Disabled
Customization: Disabled

Regarding the Locator Flash, I turned it on for 2 reason and now have a third. 1) When I read the thread that said a single battery powered the locator flash for over three years, I figured that I shouldn't be worried about draining a battery. 2) I figured it was good way to put just a slight drain on the RCRs that I use to "keep the electrons flowing". (I suppose these 2 points contradict each other but oh well). 3) The "new" reason: While it DOES make it a little easier to grab the light out of a bag or off the shelf, I've found that I think of the Locator Flash as a "heartbeat" saying "I'm here and ready to go if you need me". Just something a little comforting about seeing it flash every 3 seconds.

Scanning through this thread I learned somethings about the different custom functions and I intend to look into them again. The first that caught my eye was using the Force (or Turn on preset) to start at the original triple click low level. This gives the low level initial setting that I like but still easy access to the 2 middle levels. Might have to try that.

I've thought about getting my wife a 170T. For that I think I would start at the highest level and then ramp down excluding any strobe. She has a Proton keychain light and a AA Peak so the HDS would be more for walks/runs at night and the like.

Regards,
Rich

Ra Clicky Executive 140, flush switch, no clip,

Primary Setting [click]: 0.14 lm (Level 3)
Secondary Setting [double-click]: 35 lm (Default - Level 19)
Tertiary Setting [triple-click]: 141 lm (Burst - Level 23)
Quartern Setting [press-hold]: Tactical Strobe
Force Setting: Disabled
Button Lock: Disabled
Automatic Turn Off: Disabled
Locator Flash: Disabled
Momentary: Disabled
Customization: Disabled

By far the level I use the most is the lowest, hence I configured the light to that level when I turn it on, which is every night, sometimes more than once, because I have to put to sleep my baby girl and I also check out if she's ok during the night but also to navigate in the house at night when all the lights are out.
The double click produces a fair amount of light for general purpose.
In case I need plenty of light, just quickly click three times and because I have no other light with a strobe mode, that's my Press and Hold setting.
I like to have my light set up in a crescendo mode.

This is how all three of mine are. The button lock and Locator flash are a MUST for me, and i leave my customization enabled because NOBODY touches MY HDS lights so I dont have to worry about someone clickclickclickclickclick like Boomhower and messing up my programming.

170 custome. Flush tailcap, executive op, bezel down clip, black Ti bezel.
I am not sure the exact output, I just set it where I felt comfortable with the emission. It is roughly as follows:

[click]: about 7 lumens
[double-click]: about 50 lumens
[triple-click]: 0.7 lumens
[click-press-hold-release]: 170 lumens/120 lumens
Force Setting: Disabled
Button Lock: Disabled
Automatic Turn Off: Disabled
Locator Flash: Disabled
Momentary: Enabled
Customization: Disabled

I find it kinda funny that, given the choice, I use less light than what is available. I like having the 170 when I need it, but generally use much less.

I used it for a while before customizing the settings, and found that most of the time, I wanted just enough light, and anything more was more bothersome than helpful. While this seems to make perfect sense, I would have never guessed beforehand.
I will admit it, I chased lumens for a bit. When it comes down to practical use though, 7-10 lumens gets me through most problems.

I just received my 100lm Hi CRI Clicky and started programming it for use. It is intended for daily carry and use in the woods around my home.

Primary Setting [click]: 0.17 lm (Level 3)
Secondary Setting [double-click]: 18 lm (Level 17)
Tertiary Setting [triple-click]: (Tactical Strobe)
Quartern Setting [press-hold]: 100 lm (Level 22, highest)
Turn on Preset: Enabled
Button Lock: Disabled
Automatic Turn Off: Disabled
Locator Flash: Enabled
Momentary: Disabled
Customization: Enabled

I am usually more concerned about ruining my own night vision than about blinding an adversary. I didn't have an immediate need for the triple click setting, so I set that to tactical strobe. It will either stay there, or be replaced with the rescue strobe. My most likely use would be to discourage dogs that I run across from acting territorial.

I can get into maximum mode with a click-press, so I set everything else to a progression from "can just see my feet at night" to "walk around light" then to full power.

I added the raised switch as soon as I got it because I have rather large hands and the flush button required folding my thumb in half to activate the switch. It's just right now.

Thanks to CPF I got a daily carry light that I really enjoy! :candle:

After a couple of weeks on the factory settings I tried my own. The settings are so fun to play with and I haven't settled yet.

Primary Setting [click]: 0.05 lm (Level 1, lowest)
Secondary Setting [double-click]: 2 lm (Level 12)
Low Setting [triple-click]: 100 lm (Level 23, highest)
High [press-hold]: 12.4 lm (Level 17)
Force Setting: Disabled
Button Lock: Disabled
Automatic Turn Off: Enabled
Locator Flash: Enabled
Momentary: Disabled
Customization: Enabled

More effort for more brightness: PHR for a mid level from off rather than the usual burst.

To derive lumen values listed above, I didn't search for the output chart for the High CRI so I just know the levels counting from either min/max.
I then applied the levels' output ratios in the user manual for the published emitters.
Example: (11 lm / 170 lm) for level 15 is 6% so I assume for 100 lm that would be 6 lm.
