You know, i still remember when my fathers pelican xenon saber light was the greatest. I also remember looking at those cool P7 leds thinking "this will be the end all for me". Now look at me
dsc00923hvi.jpg

Six later and i still don't want to part with any, plus the couple dozen other lights i've bought/built due to a certain influence (CFP, cough cough;)). I've now run into the common sickness known here as "thats it?" when using various lights thinking that they are too dim. Then i start comparing them to the car head lights and it changes my prospective. Anyway, while i haven't been in the hobby for too long, its great fun, much in part to you guys. Thanks for all the helpful tips and info when buying or building a light

Cheers!

Well, this was what I had in the first month of my REAL flashaholism too.

They CAN'T be bright enough!!

Now, I have a different look on this, and I'm sure, this will come over you too in time. Of course, you'll HAVE to have some stupidly bright flashlights, but... you'll need others more often.

Very important are not only the light output, but how long can the light sustain that output? What's the color of the light output? Does the user-interface please me or not? Does the light have a reasonable size and weight, or is is THAT big, that you never carry it anyway?
You don't have much much fun of your MagCharger when you don't have it with you when you need a light... you'd better have a Fenix E01 with it's "stupid" low output, blueish LED... when you wear that one at all times :poke:
And for close-up inspection work you don't need more than 10 Lumen out-of-the-front.... otherwise you'll sing "bliiiinded by the lihight"! :D

Mark my words: within 3 months' time, you largely have forgotten those ultra-high output, large and heavy lights.... you'll be looking for the best EDC then :green:

+1, just give in to output mania and get the HID now, so you can get on with more difficult task of finding the One True EDC...

LOL so true. Well, sort of... the output mania never ends! I'm still waiting on the 1 x AAA pocket light that puts out 4200 lumens and runs at 95 deg. F max. :candle::grin2:

indeed, I can confirm this. And, worst of all, your needs seem to vary from month to month, and they are even depending on the trousers you wear... do they have extra pockets in the right places or not? With more room, you can EDC bigger lights
